From Baas to Beats
It started with a giggle.
One foggy morning on the rescue farm, while the Lambies were still snoozing and Louie was plotting his next adventure, a curious clatter echoed from the shed. It wasn’t spooky—it was rhythmic. Joyful. Like bones tap-dancing on a trampoline.
And in the centre, basking in the sunshine, stood Shelly—a more “gracefully weathered” ewe.
Shelly’s wool was patchy, her knees creaky, and her baa had a bit of a wheeze. But she had spirit. And sass. And allegedly, a fondness for tricks and sweet treats.
That morning, I spotted Shelly doing her usual bone-shaking manoeuvre. She gave a bleat and tossed her bony hips as if to ‘boogie’. It was a sight: bones and wool, rattling and baaing, shimmying to command attention.
And just like that, The Skelly Shake was born.
Shelly may be skinny, resulting from older age, but she’s proven that agility, and spontaneous shakes can make for a good groove.
